Why did a influential person lose the incentive to cast private assets for society in the ancient Rome?
Q. In ancient Rome an influential person like Caesar had the incentive to cast private assets and restore a public facility like bridges, but such a kind of incentive was getting disappeared as the history of the empire advanced. Why was it like that ?

A. Simple answer -- private citizens spent money for public works in the late republic because these works were expected, and were widely seen as a means of advancing in power. By the time of the later empire, public works were largely paid by the state and the emperors controlled patronage for public positions. It was about pleasing the mobs in the late republic; but by the late empire, there was nothing to be gained by pleasing the mobs, so the practice declined.
