Q. What Are Problems That Occurred In Angola Once Independence Was Gained? I Need 2. Help Pleaseee!!! Besides the Angolan War.
Asked by michelle. - Sun Feb 1 11:52:18 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. it got pulled into the cold war. the government MPLA was socialist leaning, so the USA paid the rebels (UNITA) loads to overthrow the govt, while the Soviets paid loads to keep them. The civil war raged on far harder than it would because USA was fighting USSR, via Angola! When the cold war was over, oil became the source of funds, and rebel leader Savimbi kept fighting.

Q. We are looking for an affordable place to stay in Angola, IN near Pokagon State Park. We are a family of 4 with small children (ages 3 & 5) and are meeting another family of 5 (with kids too). Are there many white people living in Angola?
Q. I saw some on this documentary about illegal animal trafiicking in Luanda. Anyone know what life is like for them there? Im sure its horrible.
Asked by kmankman4321 - Tue Feb 12 17:30:36 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. According to the US state department, about 1% of Angolans are white/of European descent: This being said, there are a lot of foreigners in Angola working for the major oil corporations like Chevron Texaco that pump billions of barrels of oils from both onshore and off-shore wells there. Probably, most European-Angolans or whites living in Angola temporarily live fairly well. I know that the oil companies have fenced-off mini-communities for their executives and upper workers, so that the conditions they live in can be as much like home as possible.

open a house for orphans in Angola or Mozambique help?
Q. hi i would love to be able to help orphans from these country's by opening a place where they could be properly cared, especially children with special needs (down syndrome, autism,,etc..) I don't know where to start.
Asked by mfsf2006 - Mon Nov 17 11:46:51 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. That's very ambitious, I'm not sure how many answers you'll get though. The only thing I can suggest would be to try and contact an existing orphanage to see if they can offer some advice. I imagine some experience and training in childcare (especially special needs children) would be very useful although I don't know what would be essentail. Good luck, I wish I could offer more advice.

A. The vast majority of African countries, including Angola, have two: A wet and dry season. They're so close to the equator and the tropics that it's always warm, and it;s sunny alot, so there is really only a wet season with lots of rain, and a dry, hot season. Hope it helps! :-)

A. Ambriz is a small coastal town north of Luanda in Angola quite some distance from South Africa. I recommend that you google job opportunities in Ambriz Angola and also seek out an Angolan recruitment agency that may be able to assist you with employment. Generally employment in Southern Africa is scarce but certain hard skills like engineering are in demand. Here is a link on Ambriz

Q. According to IOL: Harare - Crack Angolan troops are on standby to fly to the aid of President Robert Mugabe and his beleaguered Zanu-PF should the need arise, according to senior military sources who are becoming increasingly concerned about the turn of events.
