Why do people keep saying Capoeira originated in Brazil when it originated in Angola?
Q. My friend says they don't even admit it is an African Martial art out there. Why is that?

A. I'd tell your friend to get her facts sorted the art as it exists today is Brazilian there's no clear record or Idea of the true origins of the different elements that make up modern day Capoeira. This is mainly due that during most of it's history it was a forbidden art that was studied by an uneducated group (black slaves) There has been a lot of research done by different universities in the true origins of capoeira only to find that there is little left of the martial arts traditions of the people that brought their knowledge to the shores of Brazil btw there's more than just Angola in this equation but the overall art is Brazilian.: try to see it this way e.g. a cocktail like cuba libre is made up with part ingredients that are… [cont.]
