A. Are you looking for equity/debt captial to invest in either tourism or offshore banking? If so then you find it from the usual suspects, conventional lenders, merchant banks, venture captial companies and maybe business angels. Or do you mean something else?

Anyone been to Antigua and Barbuda?
Q. I want to take a trip to the Caribbean, and am looking at possible places to go, (I'd go by plane, not a cruise ship) and I came across Antigua and Barbuda. Well, I'm sorta on a budget, and I heard St. John's is a fairly decent priced place, is that true? Also, I'd like to know if the islands are touristy, if regular cruise ships visit them, and which of the two islands is best to stay at. And what there is to do, and how to travel between the two islands, and if you can take a plane to the islands. Just general info so I can decide if it's the place for me or not. Thanks!

A. I went to Antigua for my honeymoon in 99. I loved it very much. St Johns is a pretty typical city with lots of duty free shopping and lots of locals looking to sell you things. I found the island as a whole not as touristy as other places in the Carribean. There are some wonderful places to see and some great music to hear. The food is pretty much americanized per se but we had some local fare and enjoyed it but you would have to go off the beaten path. The Beaches are nice. I will say though that it is not a cheap place. Taxis are expensive and its the only way really to get around. Getting there is expensive as well. The roads there are awful too. If I was to go cheap I would shoot for Dominican Republic or Nassau.

what are the challenges facing antigua and barbuda as a member of the wto?
Q. it manufafuring industry, economic optio; tourism and internet gaming, limited land space, lack of water: agriculture, welfare of the people
Asked by the advocate - Sun Jun 17 14:25:14 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Agricultural subsidies - when rich countries give subsidies to their agricultural sector, often poor countries cannot compete. Anti-dumping - if there are goods that Antigua is heavily invested in making, dumping by another country can kill the industry. Dumping is the sale of a good abroad for less than the cost of making it. I would also imagine fishing rights would be a big concern. The WTO deals on the macroeconomic level so stuff like internet gambling probably doesn't concern them.

A. There is an address for one of our branch offices in Barbados, and also in the Bahamas. Which is closer to you? The easiest way to find a local kingdom hall is to visit, write, or call the local branch of Jehovah's Witnesses. I can give you the closest branch address. Just let me know which is closer to you. I do not believe there is a branch in Antigua.

A. Antigua and Barbuda are two different islands. The nation of Antigua and Barbuda includes several smaller islands as well. Absolute location (centers of the islands) Antigua: 17 5 9.67 N, 61 47 21.92 W Barbuda: 17 37 0 N, 61 48 0 W Great circle distance from Antigua to Barbuda: 36.6 miles (59 km) They're both in the Leeward Islands, which is the arc of islands that extends from the coast of South America to Puerto Rico. Leeward Islands Map: They're in the Caribbean, and not on a continent obviously, but associated with the Latin American Region, which is mostly South America, but they're usually grouped with Central America, which is part of North America. Don't forget your vacation photos!

Why is the English Speaking Caribbean doing better than the Latin Caribbean?
Q. Why is Barbados, Bahamas, Trinidad, Antigua and Barbuda so much more wealthier and successful than the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Cuba, etc, etc. Serious answers only The DR may have a large economy but it still has a very high poverty rate, so I wouldn't exactly call it successful. 40%-45% of the people live under the poverty line.

I want to live in Canada.?
Q. I want to live in Canada. I'm from Antigua/barbuda which means i'm a citizen of the British commonwealth. I have an Associates in liberal arts and psychology. I've been looking for employment through companies in Canada, family, and friends. What other options do I have?

A. the other options you have is to apply for a permanent resident visa... but that could take anywhere from a year to 3 years. really, your best bet is to get that work visa. it's the fastest way you can get into the country legally. you cannot apply for a canadian citizenship unless you have been a permanent resident for at least 3 years. with a work visa, you cannot apply for a canadian residency for 3 years as well. so getting a canadian citizenship through work visa could take you up to 6 years. unless you want to wait for about a couple of years to live in canada... i would suggest to keep looking for a job. it's your fastest bet.
