I am planning my trip to the cricket world cup - is it easy to get to Antigua & Barbuda from Barbados?
Q. I am trying to work out the best island to stay on for two weeks during the cricket world cup in March/April next year. Obviously the games are being played on different islands, so I need to be able to get between islands, preferably with one base. Therefore I would like to find out how far it is between Barbados and Antigua & Baruda and whether it is easy to get a boat.

A. You can easily get a flight from Barbados to Antigua & Barbuda. There are usually a few daily flights to and fro. The rental of the boat shall not be a problem as well since there are many resorts around in Barbados. The airport is really close to the sea and you will surely enjoy yourself there.

A. Are you looking for equity/debt captial to invest in either tourism or offshore banking? If so then you find it from the usual suspects, conventional lenders, merchant banks, venture captial companies and maybe business angels. Or do you mean something else?

Anyone been to Antigua and Barbuda?
Q. I want to take a trip to the Caribbean, and am looking at possible places to go, (I'd go by plane, not a cruise ship) and I came across Antigua and Barbuda. Well, I'm sorta on a budget, and I heard St. John's is a fairly decent priced place, is that true? Also, I'd like to know if the islands are touristy, if regular cruise ships visit them, and which of the two islands is best to stay at. And what there is to do, and how to travel between the two islands, and if you can take a plane to the islands. Just general info so I can decide if it's the place for me or not. Thanks!

A. I went to Antigua for my honeymoon in 99. I loved it very much. St Johns is a pretty typical city with lots of duty free shopping and lots of locals looking to sell you things. I found the island as a whole not as touristy as other places in the Carribean. There are some wonderful places to see and some great music to hear. The food is pretty much americanized per se but we had some local fare and enjoyed it but you would have to go off the beaten path. The Beaches are nice. I will say though that it is not a cheap place. Taxis are expensive and its the only way really to get around. Getting there is expensive as well. The roads there are awful too. If I was to go cheap I would shoot for Dominican Republic or Nassau.

A. No. The Immigration Act 1971 introduced patriality which effectively removed the right of abode from Commonwealth citizens unless they has sufficiently strong links to the UK, such as ancestry. This was a reaction to rising tensions concerning mass immigration at the time from Asian and African Commonwealth countries.

A. Antigua say they have 365 beaches, one for everyday of the year. I have been there and I would agree. Cricket is the national sports and Antigua has produced several world class, famous cricketers. Antigua contributes top cricketers to the West Indian cricket team, and to international cricket. Antigua Recreation Ground often hosts several international cricket events, such as the recent West Indies vs. India and West Indies vs. Sri Lanka. The most famous cricketers are Vivian Richards, one of the greatest batsman of all times, Andy Roberts, one of the greatest fast bowlers, Richie Richardson, another great batsman, and Curtly Ambrose, a current fast bowler on the West Indies team. Cricket games are common everywhere on the island. s
